Classic Inspiration

My guild mate, Kelly from My Quilt Infatuation, is hosting a quilt-along beginning in January. Her theme is Classic Meets Modern and will involve classic blocks in modern colors within a modern quilt design. I got inspired to participate and hope that a number of our guild mates will also participate. It will be fun each meeting to see all the blocks that are being made using the different fabric selections.

I have chosen to use a combination of Alison Glass Fabrics from a bunch of different lines.I’m going to use the low volume and text as the white and grey required for the design. Thoughtful placement of the prints will need to be done to make sure that those Handcrafted prints shine against the bright Sunprints.

I located some more of those text prints on Etsy and was super excited to be able to add these to this project!

I can’t wait to see what the first set of blocks will be!

In the meantime, I am furiously sewing up Christmas presents and Christmas decorations. I finished this Snowman Mini Quilt for my office door at work.

I really like this sweet print that I chose for the back. It’s from Joann’s and I picked it up over Black Friday weekend at a great price. I bought enough to use on multiple projects. My main plan was the exterior of a small candy bowl or bucket for my desk. I haven’t quite found the pattern I want to use yet so it will probably not be done for this holiday season. Gives me some fun sewing to look forward to.

Beautiful and fun door hanging! I now have another idea for a place to hang my quilts – on doors! 🙂 The QAL is tempting…….so pretty!
