Triangle Takeover

The sewing bug has hit me again and I have been pressing and cutting fabric like crazy.
I am working on a self-designed quilt that uses stripped triangles. So the first part of this one was to cut the strips.

The fabric is High Street from Moda. It is bright, saturated, and gorgeous! This was from a quilt kit that I received for Christmas. I didn’t like the quilt pattern that was included so I designed my own. The background fabric that was included is Kona Zen Grey and it also came with some orange for the binding.
Then I pieced 3 random strips together until I ran out of strips.

I then cut those strips into triangles.

I’m still working out the cutting measurements for the rest of the block. So, more to come….

I, once again, gave in to a Craftsy sale. I bought another Free Spirit Fat Quarter Box at a wonderful price. This one was a huge SCORE! Here come the photos:

I have no idea what I’m going to do with any of it.

Back to triangles……I also cut out an over abundance of triangles for the Triangle Quilt Along.

So, over 350 triangles later, I am ready to start piecing some of this together.

Stash Build – December ’13

I received this box at my door this week:

There was definitely Goodness Inside –

Jasper thinks he’s the Goodness in the box!

What it really had inside was a beautiful selection of Free Spirit fabrics. Craftsy was having a huge sale early last week and I decided that I did deserve a wonderful early Christmas present even if I had to buy it myself.

They are just gorgeous. Task for 2014 – use these wonderful fabrics and create something fabulous!

I especially like this grouping of yellow and teal.

This group of reds/pinks/purples is also calling my name.

I now have plenty of fabric for next year’s crafting once we also take into consideration my most recent Robert Kaufman bundles and the Moda High Street grouping that I am getting for Christmas.

This is not to say that I won’t add more in the next year, or even the next week, but I definitely have enough to get me started on something!

However, my first project of 2014 will be a charm pack quilt using Simply Style by V and Co. I’ve had that one sitting and waiting while I finished up all my Christmas projects and gifts.

Christmas Crafts & Stash Enhancement

This week was filled with work, work, work. Which leaves me with very little available sewing time.

However, I did win a Christmas fabric bundle from Ellison Lane Quilts courtesy of Timeless Treasures. I was so excited. I don’t have it yet but am looking forward to see what comes in the mail. These are the kinds of surprises that I just love.
I had popped over to her blog after searching online for wine bag tutorials. The tutorial she featured was exactly what I was looking for. You can find that tutorial and a few other great ones here.

I added a paper-pieced wonky star on the side of my bag to give it a little personality.

Then I broke down and ordered a big fat quarter box of Free Spirit Fabrics during a recent fabric sale at Craftsy. The deal was a little over $1 per fat quarter. I just couldn’t pass that up.

I did have one small finish. I put together this doll quilt for my niece for Christmas. The butterfly fabric is the same pattern I used for her baby quilt. I backed it with the remaining Minkee from a previous baby quilt I made.

I’m still trying to come up with some small and super cute items for work gifts. Hopefully, I’ll come up with something.
